Meat and Seafood Department Manager

Job Duties:

We are looking for a warm friendly individual who likes to interact with customers to provide superior customer service. Applicant must have good team building and organizational skills to direct a perishable foods department with seasonal business. Previous management experience preferred and applicant should have an overall understanding of retail meat and seafood department operations.

The responsibilities of this position include overseeing the department’s overall operations, including staff supervision, ordering various products, ensuring food safety, overseeing product preparation, dealing with various suppliers and vendors, and carrying out monthly inventory.  The applicant must be familiar with analyzing operation statements (P&L), and the impact waste, labor and productivity have on the profitability of the Meat and Seafood Department. Must be able to learn and memorize a considerable amount of information, work in an environment that can at times be very fast paced, be able to multi-task and keep on smiling.

Pay rate range is $21.25 to $27.00 per hour and is dependent on prior work and management experience.

Must have open availability for working hours, including weekends and most holidays.

Applicant must have an overall knowledge of retail meat and seafood department operations.

Must be outgoing, able to interact and work well with the public and have exceptional customer service skills.

Must be able to effectively communicate, manage, train, motivate, reward, discipline, monitor and supervise employees within the Meat and Seafood Department.

Must be able to work well with the Meat and Seafood Director and follow directions and instructions to meet company goals.

Must be well organized and have experience in ordering perishable food products, rotation and inventory control.

Must follow safe food handling and safe working procedures.

Must be able to effectively operate a computer in order to enter and obtain data essential to the operation of the Meat and Seafood Department.

Must be able to operate department equipment such as telephones, knives, wrapping stations, scales, meat grinders, meat slicers and bandsaws.

Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.

Bending, reaching and grasping required.

Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods.

Vision requirements for this position require close vision.

Must obtain a County Food Worker Card upon hiring.
